¡Ya llegó Diciembre! December is here! It is a very busy time of the year, but such an exciting one too! The kids are filled with joy, excitement, and anticipation. We have lots to do in the next few weeks before la Navidad!
This week we had a fun-filled pajama day on Friday to celebrate us reaching our November Spanish goal! The kids have been working HARD to speak more and more Spanish in class, and I am so proud of them. Let's keep up the great work!
Here are more updates from our week...
Reading / Lectura: This week we learned the syllables ta, te, ti, to, tu. The kids have been establishing great reading behaviors in their small reading groups, and you have seen quite a few books start to fill their book bags. Please continue to read with your child EVERY day and record it on the orange recording sheet! We also started exploring pattern books this week, which the kids LOVE because they feel so successful when they can read a whole book by themselves. They are making great progress!
Writing / Escritura: This week we finished presenting our libros de listas, or books of lists. Following our reading lessons exploring pattern books, we have also started to write our own pattern books. The kids have started planning and crafting their own books titled Te Amo... (I love you...) based on a pattern book we have read.
Math / Matemáticas: We have been exploring lots of math concepts this week, including the +1/-1 patterns, and solving simple addition problems. We also had some fun making some fun Christmas crafts!
Cookie Sale: Wednesday, December 6th!
Our cookie sale is next week! We are so excited for this event. We'll be making cookies in the classroom on Monday afternoon, and our sale will begin around 10:00am on Wednesday! Please feel free to stop by to buy cookies and donate to a great cause. THANK YOU to all of the parents who are helping to make this event a success!
Class Christmas Party: Wednesday, December 20th!
Our class Christmas party will take place on Wednesday, December 20th from 2:15-3:00pm. We will be doing a class gift exchange, so each child will need to bring in a wrapped $5 gift. Boys' gifts can be labeled "para un niño" and girls' gifts can be labeled "para una niña". If you would like to help out at our party, either by volunteering or by sending in treats, please see our signup here!
SI Christmas Concert: Tuesday, December 12th!
We have been getting ready for our Spanish Immersion Christmas concert and we are so excited! See flyer below--more details to come soon!
Sing, Move, and Memorize
We'll be participating in another sing, move, and memorize activity next week from Monday-Thursday! We will be heading to the small gym at 8:20 each morning, so please make sure your child is on time every day to school. We will be learning verses from Luke 2. For one of our activities we will be drumming together! Do you have any empty oat containers you could donate to use as drums? If so, please send them with your child next week!
Maroon and White Shop at Rose Park: Save the dates for December 13 + 14 - The Maroon and White Shop will be present Wednesday (at pick-up), and Thursday morning. If you desire to grab any HC gear for presents this year, make a note to stop by!
Have a great weekend, everyone! See more photos from our week below...
