¡Hola Familias!
Welcome to our class blog! My name is Hillary Klipp Lopez, and I am delighted to be your child's teacher this year in Spanish Immersion Kindergarten! We are going to have a fantastic year together. We will learn so much--reading, writing, math, science, and lots of español, of course--but most importantly, I can't wait to share with your child about Jesus' love for us that transcends EVERY culture and EVERY language.
Some of you I have known for quite a few years and have taught your older children, and others of you are new families! I am excited to build a classroom community together this year.
About Me
I met my husband, Miguel, doing mission work in Mexico 20 years ago. We have been married for 16 years and have 2 wonderful children, Anaiah (12) and Isaac (10). Both of our kids are in the Spanish Immersion program at Holland Christian!
My family just returned from a sabbatical year serving in Chichicastenango, Guatemala. We partnered with an organization called Manos de Jesús that serves kids and families in "Chichi" and its neighboring communities. It is an area heavily influenced by indigenous Mayan religion and culture, very different from what we had ever experienced before. Needless to say, it was an INCREDIBLE experience for all of us. If you'd like to know more or see some pictures, please check out our Facebook group here!
Spanish Immersion Kindergarten
I LOVE teaching Spanish Immersion, and it was a privilege for me to help found the program here at Rose Park in 2018. I have 15+ years of teaching experience in several countries and states and across all ages, from kindergarten to adults!
I will be speaking ONLY Spanish in the classroom, but I make the language and learning process highly engaging and fun for all levels of learners. I will speak in English with your child (in private, in the hallway) if it is absolutely necessary, and of course, your child's safety and well-being is always my priority. We are going to have a wonderful year together!
Back-to-School Info
Your child should have received a letter from me in the mail inviting you to our Ice Cream Social this Thursday from 6-7pm at Rose Park. Please make sure you bring all of your child's school supplies that evening to minimize distractions on the first day of school.
Our first day of school is Tuesday, August 19th! It will be a full day of school, beginning at 8:15am and ending at 3:15pm.
We have Parent Information Night on Thursday, August 21st from 6:00-7:30pm.
Action Points
-Would you please fill out THIS FORM for me as I prepare for the upcoming year? ¡Muchas gracias!
That's all for now! I am looking forward to meeting you and your child this Thursday!
-Maestra Klipp Lopez
