Whew! What a week! We have hit the ground running with all things Navidad. The kids are so excited as we enter into Advent, a time of anticipation as we await the celebration of Jesus's birth. So grateful to see these kids' joy every day!
We have been super busy in class and with other activities! Here is a snapshot of our week...
Reading / Lectura: We have been learning the syllables ta, te, ti, to, tu. We are also learning about adjetivos and how they describe sustantivos (nouns). Finally, we are looking for patterns in books and reading with partners. The kids are doing a fantastic job with this and gaining confidence every day!
Writing / Escritura: This week we wrapped up our study of list and label books, and the kids presented one book to the class. We will begin next week writing pattern books, which the kids will be able to read and share with their friends!
Math / Matemáticas: We have been reinforcing the pattern of +1 and -1 using songs and felt animals. We are also practicing solving number stories and identifying sumas y restas (addition and subtraction).
Bible / Biblia: This week we have started learning the story of Jesus's birth, which we will be acting out for our Christmas program!
Christmas Program: Tuesday, December 7th, 6:00-7:30
Our Spanish immersion Christmas concert is soon approaching. Since we will be holding this year's concert at the Holland Christian High School we will have a very limited time for rehearsal in that space the day of the concert. We are asking for students to be at the high school, enter through Door F in their best Christmas attire and ready to sing at 5:30pm. We will meet in the hallway to the left of the auditorium doors and go all together to our “waiting room” with their teacher. Pre-schoolers will exit the stage after their parts but the rest of the students will stay on the stage for the duration of the program. We are excited to be growing and hence need a larger space to host this concert but with that comes some changes. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Cookie Sale
Our Kindergarten Cookie Sale is next week! A HUGE "gracias" to everyone who has signed up to help. I will be reaching out to you with any details you need to know if you are coming in to help either Wednesday or Thursday. If you signed up to make and wrap cookies for our sale, please send them in by Thursday morning at the latest. We are excited to be a blessing to others!
Class Christmas Party
Our class Christmas party will take place on Wednesday, December 15th from 12:30-1:30pm. We will be doing a class gift exchange, so each child will need to bring in a wrapped $5 gift. Boys' gifts can be labeled "para un niño" and girls' gifts can be labeled "para una niña".
