¡Hola Familias!
What a beautiful, fun, exhausting week we have had together! I am SO grateful for the opportunities we have had this week to worship God together, celebrate our grandparents, and continue to make incredible growth together in kindergarten. Thank you for your partnership, your faithfulness, and your flexibility through our year together!
Here is a snapshot of what we have been learning this week...
Reading / Lectura: This week we focused on syllables with x: xa, xe, xi, xo, xu, as well as a few words with the syllable wa (not very common in Spanish). We have also been studying characters (personajes) in our books and using post-its to take notes on how characters feel, what they say, and what they do.
Writing / Escritura: We are continuing to work on nonfiction books. This week the kids wrapped up their own "All About" (Todo Sobre) book about a topic of their choice. We are now working on a "research" project on an animal. We are practicing using our iPads and Google Images search to learn more about animals and take notes on what we learn.
Math / Matemáticas: This week we have been practicing writing and counting from 1-100 by 1s, 10s, and 5s, as well as reviewing teen numbers and writing equations for number stories.
Bible / Biblia: Since we finished learning about Jesus' death and resurrection, now we are turning back in the Bible to learn about Jesus' life and ministry on earth. We learned how Jesus called all of his discípulos, who were not perfect people, but made the choice to follow Him. We also started learning about his milagros, or miracles, and how Jesus' first miracle was turning agua into vino.
Science / Ciencias: We have continued our unit on Mi Tierra (my Earth) to focus on living things, or seres vivos. We talked about the characteristics of seres vivos (they need air, they grow, they reproduce, etc.), and then we planted semillas (seeds) which we will watch grow over time. We are also conducting an experiment to see if seeds will grow the best in soil, sand, rocks, or in a dark cabinet!
Reading Tip of the Week
Establish a "family reading time" at the end of the day to wind down, spend time together, and read. Is there a series that you can get into as a family? Some of my kids' favorite series are Magic Tree House, Hombre Perro (Dog Man), The Berenstain Bears, and American Girl books (for slightly older kids).Immersion Tip of the Week
