17-20 de enero

¡Hola Familias!

Even though I have been out for the past couple of days, the kids have been learning a lot! Today they had a great time with the second graders helping out with barn chores, and even worked on writing a pattern book with their second grade buddies. Thank you to Maestra Cantú for helping facilitate these fun activities!

Here are more updates on our week...

Reading / Lectura: This week we have been learning the syllables ba, be, bi, bo, bu. To tell the difference between lowercase b and d, I tell the kids to look for the barriga (belly) in the front of the B. The dedo (finger) sticks up on the other side of the D.

Writing / Escritura: We are still working on creating our own pattern books! The kids have enjoyed doing this, and some have written 2-3 books already. Next week we will revise and share them with the class.

Matemáticas: This week we have been continuing to work on parts of numbers, teen numbers, and reviewing and analyzing shapes together.

Bible / Biblia: We are starting to learn about the time of the Judges (los jueces) when the Israelites finally made it to the Promised Land. We've been talking about how God never deserted his people, although he did permit them to fall into enemy hands when they would turn away from him. This week we learned the stories of Débora, Gedeón, and Rut
