24-25 de noviembre

 ¡Hola Familias!

We had a short week this week, but it was full of fun and exciting activities! We had an outdoor Thanksgiving chapel on Monday where we walked around to different stations, writing and drawing in little books about things we are thankful for. We also prepared a presentation of the book Gracias, Omu, a beautiful story that teaches us about generosity, community, and gratitude. The kids LOVED performing this book for the 1st-3rd grade classes!

We also had a Writing Celebration presenting our Libros de Listas, or books of lists. The kids chose their favorite books to read in front of the class, and they took home the rest of them. Have your child read some of his/her books to you--they did a great job!

This week, we spent time talking about things we are thankful for as we prepare for Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for the opportunity to have such a wonderful group of kids this year! They are learning so much and I am so proud of them. We have had a great few months together!

I won't go into each subject in this post, but please read some general announcements below:

Book Bags

Your child should have several books in his/her book bag. Please make sure it comes to school in his/her folder every day! I will be checking the orange paper as well, so make sure to record when your child reads book bag books to you at home. I encourage you to help your child practice over break! It is exciting to see them starting to "take off" with their reading.

Cookie Sale

Sending out the link again for the Cookie Sale! Can you help out in our classroom or by sending in cookies? We appreciate all your help to make this event a success!

Library Books

Many kids have overdue library books. Please send your child's books back after Thanksgiving break. If children still have overdue books next week on Monday, they will only be able to take one book home. ¡Gracias!

Vase

We will be making Christmas centerpieces after Thanksgiving break! Please send in a glass vase (about 10 inches tall and 3 inches wide) for your child to use for this activity. We hope to complete the project during the first week we are back, so please plan on having your child bring it in on Monday or Tuesday.

That's all I have for now! Wishing you and your family a very happy Día de Acción de Gracias--Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy the time of making great memories and spending time together as a family. See you next Monday!
