 ¡Hola Familias!

What a crazy, busy, amazing week we just finished! The kids did a great job helping out our guest teachers and were ready to jump right back into our routines when I got back on Tuesday afternoon. Highlights of the week were the 100th day of school (yay!), crazy hair day, our field trip to the ODC, and of course, our class chapel! I feel so blessed every day to be able to nurture and pour into each student. It is a privilege for me to see each child growing in God's love, being a good friend, and learning more every day.

If you missed our chapel service, here is a video I made of the kids answering the question, "How can I show God's love?". I showed it during our chapel service. Hope you enjoy their sweet answers! Also, below is a video of the worship dance we prepared to the song "Cuán Grande es Tu Amor" (if it's not working, try this link instead):

Here are some more details about our learning:

Reading / Lectura: We have been working on the sound /k/ this week, which in Spanish is made by the letters q(u), k, and c. We are also working on conjugating Spanish verbs into different forms, such as yo (I),  (you--informal), and nosotros (we). Finally, we are working on applying different reading strategies as we read books for longer periods of time.

Writing / Escritura: We are using los sentimientos (feelings) vocabulary as a springboard to write stories about our experiences. This week we started planning and writing 3-page stories and are focusing on telling the beginning, middle, and end.

Math / Matemáticas
: This week we have been working on writing larger numbers, writing from 1-100 (wow!), identifying parts of numbers, and representing numbers using decenas (tens) and unidades (ones). We also had fun making a 100-piece snack mix for Tuesday. This was a fun opportunity to practice counting by 10s and 1s.

Bible / Biblia: This week we learned about el Rey David and how he had un corazón de Dios. We learned about how el Rey Saúl was jealous of him and how he had to flee the palace. We also learned about how David wrote salmos to God and looked to God in times of trouble in his life.

Valentine's Day

I emailed you yesterday with the list of students in our class, but if you missed it, our friends are Grace, Naomi, Cristopher, Oliver, Henrik, Goldie, Lucas, Henry, Chase, Cecily, Skylar, Benjamin, Luke, Nehemiah, Sam, and Millie. You are welcome to have your child bring in Valentines for the class on Monday. Here is a sign-up if you are interested in sending something for our celebration!

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Our next round of parent-teacher conferences are coming up on Monday, March 28 and Wednesday, March 30. You will receive details about this soon!

Maestra at Training

I will be at another training on Wednesday, February 16th. If you are wondering about all the trainings I have been attending, I am part of the PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) team at Rose Park. I am working to help our school develop and implement a positive behavior plan, which includes our SER tickets and celebrations (a raffle of special activities or prizes) that happen every Friday. It is having a great impact on our school culture, and on our classroom as well!

Have a wonderful weekend, and enjoy this extra day of rest and family time! See you on Monday!
