9-13 de mayo

¡Hola Familias!

What a week we had! I don't know about you, but I'm exhausted--and the kids seem pretty exhausted today too! 🤪 Despite having two half days, it was a fun-filled, HOT week of school. Here is what we've been up to:

Reading / Lectura: This week we studied the digraph ch in Spanish, which makes the same /ch/ sound like in English. We also took our MAP reading (and math) tests so we can measure the kids' growth from the beginning to the end of the year--let me know if you want to know how your child did! We are also continuing to study characters, setting, and main idea of stories.

Writing / Escritura: In writing, we are practicing sharing our opiniones! This week we practiced answering writing prompts about our preferences, focusing on giving reasons with the word porque

Math / Matemáticas: In addition to taking our MAP math test, we have been continuing to review parts of numbers, equations, and number stories.

Bible / Biblia: This week we learned about a few more of Jesus' miracles--calming the storm, feeding the 5,000, and walking on water. The kids are loving hearing these stories! I encourage you to read or have your child help you retell these stories at home using the crafts or coloring pages they take home.

Science / Ciencias: It was super exciting watching our plantas grow! We learned how the seeds in soil (tierra) grew much better than those in sand (arena), rocks (piedras), or in the dark (oscuridad).

Immersion Tip of the Week

Make a connection with our Bible lesson this week. Can you find one of Jesus' miracles in a Bible you have at home? Have your child tell you what he/she remembers about the story. Read the story again together, either in Spanish or in English!

Reading Tip of the Week

You should be SO proud of your child for how much growth he/she has made this year, both in Spanish AND in reading! Have your child "show off" to you by reading some book bag books in Spanish sometime this weekend. Give your child lots of praise for great work!
