¡Hola Familias!

We have had a great week in Kindergarten with some fun events! What a JOY it was to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior at our annual Christmas Concert on Tuesday night. It was beautiful to praise God in Spanish and to remember that he is Lord of ALL the earth and ALL people. HERE is the link if you'd like to watch a recording of the concert.

Also, I want to say a HUGE "THANK-YOU" to everyone who supported our Kindergarten Cookie Sale! We raised over $710 to donate to the Chan Family in Guatemala! In the words of Kathlyn: "Now our family just grows as we feel a connection to these sweet kiddos now too! What a gift!" I'm sending home prayer cards with the kids today so you can continue to pray for their family. :) I was so sad to be sick yesterday and to miss this event we'd prepared so long for, but the kids did amazing--and thank you, again, to all of our amazing parent helpers who made this event a success!

Here is more news from this past week:

Reading / Lectura: This week we continued to review the syllables la, le, li, lo, lu. We are also working hard to read pattern books! We've also been learning the difference between adjetivos (adjectives) and sustantivos (nouns).

Writing / Escritura: We continued writing pattern books this week, including continuing the patterns Yo Veo.. (I see), Yo Puedo... (I can), and A Mí Me Gusta (I like). The kids have been doing a great job writing the sounds they hear, as well as leaving spaces between the words we write.

Math / Matemáticas: This week we worked more on addition and subtraction with numbers from 1-5. We also explored shapes, made paper Christmas trees, and had fun with our Christmas math centers.

Bible / Biblia: We have been learning more about the Christmas Story and how Jesus came to earth. We learned about how the angel Gabriel appeared to María, how she and José traveled to Belén, and how los ángeles appeared to los pastores (shepherds).

Christmas Party Next Week!

We will have our Christmas party on Wednesday, December 17th in the afternoon. Thank you to everyone who signed up to help out or send in items for our celebration. Please don't forget to send your child with a wrapped gift for our gift exchange! $5 limit, labeled "para un niño" or "para una niña".
