26-30 de enero

 ¡Hola Familias!

We are starting to get back into our rhythm after a whole week of snow days! The kids have been working hard and having fun together. Today, we celebrated reaching our Spanish goal for January with our peluches! So fun!

Here are more updates on our week...

Reading / Lectura: This week we have been learning the syllables za, ce, ci, zo, zu. In Spanish, the "z" sounds like the "s" sound, and the "c" makes the same sound when paired with vowels "e" and "i" (similar to English).

Writing / Escritura: We are finishing our work on pattern books! This week we finished our Oso Pardo (Brown Bear) pattern books and shared them with our 3rd grader buddies. It was fun hearing the kids reading their books to each other! We also wrote pattern books about our peluches today!

Matemáticas: This week we have been continuing to work on parts of numbers, teen numbers, and reviewing and analyzing shapes together.

Bible / Biblia: We have been learning about how God took care of his people in the promised land. We learned how Sansón was chosen by God to help the israelitas by saving them from their enemies.

Immersion Tip of the Week

Are you as proud and excited about your child's learning journey as I am? Tell a friend! Spread the word to help our program continue to grow and thrive in the coming years. Enrollment for preschool and kindergarten begins in February!

Reading Tip of the Week

When reading with your child this week, ask him/her to retell the story to you in order after you finish it. Or, ask: "What happened at the beginning? The middle? The end?" Sequencing and retelling stories are important reading comprehension skills for your child to practice in English AND Spanish

100th Day of School!

Our 100th day of school is coming up on Friday, February 6th! Would you be able to help send in an item for our 100-piece snack mix? Here is the signup! (We have cheerios and raisins already at school!)

Batons

If your child has his/her baton from last year (only applies to students who were at HC prior to this year), please send it in next week. I need a count on how many batons we need to order. If your child was at HC for preschool but does not have a baton or it got lost, please let me know ASAP!

From the Office

  • Upcoming Dates:

    • February 13 & 16: No School

  • Check your spam or junk mail! - we have heard from a few people in the Rose Park office that they have had e-mails from school go straight to their spam/junk mail. If you notice you’re missing things you typically receive check out your spam to see if your missing messages may be there!

  • If you typically pick up your child(ren) via the Peace Lutheran’s parking lot please allow the buses to have the right of way, and give them plenty of space to operate as they have afternoon routes to accomplish safely. Please do not to walk in between buses and  stay on the Rose Park sidewalk to the very end (by the standing stone) before you “cross over” to the walkway as you walk together to the church. Thanks!
