2-6 de marzo

¡Hola Familias!
We had a great week together in Kindergarten! It has been so fun to hear the kids speak more and more in Spanish together. We've also been talking about how we can use kind words to others, let others go first when playing a game, and cooperate to clean up together.

Here's more about what we've been learning...

Reading / Lectura: This week we learned the syllables with the letter r in Spanish: ra, re, ri, ro, ru. We have also been working on studying different verb forms in Spanish, as well as describing the beginning, middle, and ending events of stories.

Writing / Escritura
: This week we concluded writing our 3-part stories. The kids worked SO hard on these stories and really enjoyed presenting them to their classmates! We will finish this on Monday as well. I will be saving the kids' books for their writing portfolios, but I'll show them to you during conferences. I am so proud of them!

Math / Matemáticas: This week we practiced representing teen numbers by making a group of 10 plus more. We are also working on recognizing parts of numbers, reviewing names and attributes of shapes, and counting from 1-100.

Bible / Biblia: This week, we learned about how el Rey Salomón led the Israelites to construct el templo--the temple--where they could worship God. We then used our imaginations to try to recreate it using different building materials! We are also starting to learn about Elías, or Elijah, and how God used him to speak against el Rey Ajab (King Ahab). God takes care of us, like he did with Elías!

Easter Projects Coming Up!

We are going to start learning about the Resurrection story pretty soon, and we will need a few items to do this together! Please send in the following items by next Friday, March 13th:

1. Two sticks, bound together with twine or string to form a cross. They should be about finger thickness and stand no more than about a foot tall. Please label the cross with a post-it or tag with your child's name!

2.  A dozen colored plastic eggs, labeled from 1-12, in an egg carton. Please label the carton with your child's name!

Field Trip: Ramirez Bakery

We are going to take a field trip to Ramirez bakery on the morning of Wednesday, March 25th! This is always a fun time for the kids to connect with members of our community and speak Spanish outside the classroom. I can take up to 4 chaperones--please let me know if you are interested! We will leave around 8:50am and should be back by 10:30. (We will also have another field trip to Taquería y Tienda Azteca in April if you don't have a chance to join us on this one!)
