25-28 de marzo

¡Hola Familias!

We had a great week! Today we had a great day celebrating el día de los crayones for reaching our March Spanish goal! We also had a wonderful field trip on Tuesday to Ramirez Bakery, had fun with barn chores, and did lots more learning and playing with friends.

Here's an update on our week...

Reading / Lectura: This week we reviewed the sound /k/ with syllables ka, ke, ki, ko, ku. We'll continue working on this sound (along with letters "c" and "q") when we come back from break!

Writing / Escritura: We continued working on how-to writing this week. This time, we started thinking about things we know how to do, such as make a snowman, draw a picture of a rainbow or house, or jump rope. The kids practiced using sequence words to tell the steps, and then they brainstormed 4 ideas for their next piece of writing (next week).

Math / Matemáticas: This week we did some practice comparing numbers using mayor (greater) and menor (less) and finding out how many are left over. We also did some fun centers with crayones and finding the parts of 10.

Bible / Biblia: We finished our resurrection eggs project. It was a beautiful experience to walk through the story of the resurrection with the kids. We are in awe of Jesus' love for us, so great that he chose to come live in this world and die on the cross for our sins. ¡Gloria a Dios!

Social Studies / Estudios Sociales: This week we learned about different animals and their teeth as well as the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Immersion Tip of the Week

Have your child be the "language teacher" in your house one evening. Encourage him/her to teach you some new words or phrases. Let your child show off and be the expert. Don't be afraid to make mistakes and laugh as you learn. Most importantly, have fun!

Reading Tip of the Week

In some of our reading groups, we've worked on developing fluency when we read. Fluency is reading like talking--not too quickly, but also not in a choppy way. When you read to your child, read with lots of expression to model this!

 SI Summer Camp

Have you signed up your child(ren) for our SI summer camp yet? If not, there's still time! The camp will run June 24-28 from 9:00-12:00 every day. Here is the link to sign up, and you may drop your check off in the office. It's going to be great!
